Identity of Marianna, the wife of Lorentio Mathia:
Marianna the wife of Lorentio Mathia
is recorded with the last name of Mathiowna on the
birth records of this couple's children. Examples of these
records showing various versions of Marianna's name are:
This couple lived
in Zalno (Sehlen). We have not yet found a marriage
record for this couple, but will give attention to this
on the next trip to the library. The couple's oldest
child was born on 18 Mar 1785. Based on this birth, we would
estimate that her birth would be 23 years earlier, in 1762.
Could Marianna be the same person as:
- Marianna Matya born to Stephani
Mathia and Marianna Karnowska in Zalno in March
of 1764 and baptized 4 Mar 1764 in Reetz, or
- Marianna Matya born to Francisci
Mathia and Catharina in Zalno on 13 Sep 1760 and baptized
in Reetz.
We need to look for the marriage record
of Marianna and Lorentio, and also for the possibility that
one or the other died before reaching adulthood.

I did a little "sleuthing" about
the children of LORENZ & MARIANNA MATHIA (Active Research
Item #1). Nothing too significant, but perhaps something
will "jump out" at us.

Bob's Analysis of godparents for the children
of LORENZ & MARIANNA MATHIA (married about 1784):
1. ANNA JOSEPHINA (DOB 1785): Simon
Woyuechowski (probably Wojciechowski) and Veronika Elzanowska.
2. ELISABETH (DOB 1789): Josephujs
Domeraski (probably Domeracki) and Francisca Domeraska (probably
Domeracki).
We have a FRANCISCA DOMERACKA (born abt
1770, died 01/1840) married to JOHANN JOSEPH MATHIA (born
02/1764, died 12/1836). DOM is 11/1872, with Francisca
living in Zalno. All of their subsequent children
were born in Zalno. This JOHANN JOSEPH is the brother
of LORENZ MATHIA.
3. UNNAMED MATHIA (DOB 1792): Petrus
Jaworski & Marianna Kuligowski.
Marianna Kuligowski may be the MARIANNA
DOMERACKA, married to Josepho Kuligowski (est DOB 1783).
4. ADALBERT (DOB 1794): Nicolaus
Matya and Francisca Matyowa.
We have a NICOLAUS (DOB 1770) born to FRANZ
& CATHARINA MATHIA. He would have been age 24
at the time of Adalbert's baptism. This might be strong
evidence of him being the brother of Lorenz's wife MARIANNA,
assuming her parents also were Franz & Catharina Mathia.
The godmother FRANCISCA MATYOWA might be
the spouse (Francisca Domeracka) of Lorenz's brother JOHANN
JOSEPH MATHIA. (They were married in 1792).
5. JOSEPH (DOB 1797): Josephus
Kuligoski and Agnes Lyczykowa.
The godmother AGNES LYCZYKOWA might be the
spouse (nee AGNES MATHIA) (est DOB 1758) of Adalbertum Lyczywek.
We have no parents for this AGNES, but Lorenz did
have a sister born 1761, died 1771, so Lorenz's sister is
NOT the spouse of Adalbertum Lyczywek. Perhaps AGNES
is related to Lorenz's spouse Marianna (neither Franz nor
Stephani Mathia have known-daughters named Agnes,
but the est DOB 1758 fits in).
6. ROSALIA (DOB 1800): Adalbertus
Liczywek & Rosalia Kencka.
7. JACOB (DOB 1802): Joannes
Mathia & Agnes Mathiowa.
Joannes probably is Johann Joseph, the brother
of Lorenz. Agnes probably is the wife of Nicolaus
Mathia (who possibly is a sibling to Lorenz's wife Marianna. See #4 (Adalbert)).
8. BARTHOLOMEW (DOB abt 1805): NO
baptismal record found yet.
