What became of the posterity of Claude and Henriette?

Simone married Gilbert Delafond November 26 1951 and has lived in Chambley [Footnote 37].

Yvette married in England August 20 1955 with Alan Longstaff. They emigrated to the United States in 1957 [Footnote 38].

Geneviève married June 6 1959 with Paul Emile Samson and lived in Mardigny [Footnote 39].

Claude remains a bachelor [Footnote 40] [Footnote 40a].

Eugénie continue to live alone in Bezaumont. Aline who felt alone invited her to come and live with her in Nancy but Eugénie loved her life in the village of her childhood too much than to make such a change. She continued during 15 years. Then one evening, not feeling well, she left her house to get some help. She fell and was found unconscious and taken to the hospital in Pont à Mousson where she died January 4, 1969.

Jeanne became a widow in 1963. Vittonville was fairly close to Mardigny where she visited Geneviève and her family.   Her grandchildren loved her visit because she used to bring a cake and some quince paste marked with a fork and these were special treats for her grandchildren. She used to tell Jean-Paul that he was too joyfull. When she became too old to live alone, she spent the last few years of her life in Chambley at her daughter Simone, She died September 27, 1974, one day before cousin Henry.

There remained Aline alone in Nancy and her grandchildren in America. Naturally she carried her grandmother’s affection on Geneviève’s children who were the youngest ones in the family. She went to Mardigny and spend several days to help Geneviève with her twins.  Jeanne’s grandchildren became her grandchildren and she became their grandma after Jeanne was gone. Later when they came by Nancy, they stopped to visit “aunt Aline”. She made them some special treats. They loved the house “rue du Grand-Verger.”

Aline who had been a widow 52 years, went to meet her husband October 19, 1989.

And thus history repeats itself: Claude and Henriette had 3 daughters, 4 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and at least 25 great great grandchildren. Their history is written in 2004. The challenge remains for the future generations to continue.
